Dr Li-On Lam
Orthopaedic Surgeon
MB BS (UWA) FRACS (Orth)
Specialising in shoulder, hip and knee surgery

About
I am an Australian qualified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon with a sub-specialist interest in shoulder, knee and hip surgery. After completing my medical degree at the University of Western Australia, I underwent training as an orthopaedic surgeon under the West Australian training scheme.
I have obtained further training and experience by completing fellowships in shoulder, knee and hip surgery including joint replacement surgery as well as the arthroscopic treatment of knee and shoulder conditions. I have also had further fellowship training in general orthopaedic trauma.
I have a keen interest in teaching and training and participate in the education of our orthopaedic trainees. I serve on the state training committee as the convenor of ‘bone school’ – the formal tutorial programme for our trainees and was involved in the development and implementation of the new curriculum to train the surgeons of the future.
I have had the privilege of working with Australian Doctors for Africa and have visited Madagascar 6 times in providing humanitarian assistance in very basic and austere surgical environments.
My wife and I have two young daughters which ensures life is always busy, challenging and amusing. I am also a keen squash player and serve as a reservist for the army.
